Count Your Blessings

For the next few weeks, I’m going to focus a good portion of my blog to being thankful. We are in a month of Thanksgiving afterall.

This excludes the new series for Saturdays, “Earning Respect,” and another series I plan to start on Wednesdays in the next week or so. Those will continue, but for the rest of the month I simply want to be thankful for where I am, what I have, and the faithfulness of Who I serve.

Count your blessings;

Name them one by one.

Count your blessings;

See what God hath done.

Count your blessings;

Name them one by one.

Count your many blessings;

See what God hath done.

How often do we do this? I mean really, truly, look to see what God has and is doing in our lives? Oh it’s easy to look at a bank account, our house, our family and say, “I’m blessed.” But how many more times have you been blessed this week, month, and year?

I had one this morning and I’m betting you’ve had the same in the last week. You start down a road, running “behind” and pass a wreck. Where you really “behind” or did God delay you to save you from being involved?

Then there’s the moment you sit down to pay bills and realize that you electric bill is cheaper than expected or that car payment you were thinking was late you’d written down twice and already paid it last check.

God blesses us constantly, and often we overlook the blessing as chance or inconvenience. So this month, look for the blessings in disguise, seek to find the positive in those moments we might otherwise let ruin our day. Often, more often than you’d expect, those are the moments God was moving mountains for you and your family!
