There aren’t many thing that I won’t at least try to negotiate with my foster kiddos, but we came across one this Halloween when one of my current charges wanted to be Momo for Halloween.
When she told me that I didn’t have a clue who she was talking about…because I’m both old and semi normal!
First before we get to the point of this post, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT???
That…that thing that popped up when I Googled Momo is the creepiest, weirdest, and ugliest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Who comes up with this kind of madness?
Anyway, as soon as I saw the picture I was like:
So I started reading more about this wierdness and came across this tidbit of info.
The “suicide game” has spread about young people on WhatsApp and features an image of a woman with dark hair, pale skin, huge eyes and an unnatural smile. When a person adds Momo to their WhatsApp contact, they get sent a series of challenges and can be threatened and blackmailed if they refuse to carry out the orders. The “challenges” have been reported to be as sick as telling young children to hold a knife to their neck.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/news/world/1093115/momo-challenge-suicide-game-parents-reaction-twitter/amp
Yeah we aren’t doing that! I’m not going to let my child, and yes I’m calling my foster child my child because until the courts say otherwise, she is just that, walk around at school, at church, or in our neighborhood wearing a costume that promotes all the things I’m fighting to protect her from!
Seriously folks, I pray you do the same! We have enough going on in this world without us promoting this kind of insanity!
How It Ended Up
So after telling her that Momo wasn’t going to happen and why, I asked her to come up with another idea and let her go think about it.
Note: I told her why. That’s important people! It’s easy to just say no and make them mad, but I promise you that if you’ll just explain things to them, nine-times-out-of-ten you’ll find that they can handle the news and roll with it.
I went on about the evening, putting kids to bed, working on paperwork, and writing when my wife sent me a text. “She wants to know if she can be Morticia?”
Ah the Addams Family, good wholesome family values wrapped in Goth…
